About
Gabriel N. Rosenberg is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Duke University. He received his B.A. from Grinnell College in 2003 and his Ph.D. from Brown University in 2011. He is primarily interested in the development of the modern American state and its interaction with rural culture and society in the first half of the twentieth century. His other major research interests include histories of sexuality and gender, the history of childhood and youth, theories and comparative histories of the state, environmental history, and the history of international development. He is currently preparing a monograph, "Breeding the Future: 4-H and the Roots of the Modern Rural World." "Breeding the Future" explores the history of the iconic rural youth organization from its origins in US rural social reform and state-building efforts to its current role in global development.
